The Airport Rail Link (ARL) is a high-speed train connecting Suvarnabhumi Airport to the city center. The ARL operates from 6:00 AM to 12:00 AM daily, with fares ranging from 15 to 45 THB depending on the distance.

The Bangkok Mass Transit System, commonly known as the BTS Skytrain, is the city’s primary elevated rail system. Taxis are an abundant and accessible mode of transportation in Bangkok. Ensure that the driver uses the meter to avoid overcharging. Taxi fares start at 35 THB for the first 1-2 kilometers, with an additional charge based on distance and time spent in traffic.

A tuk-tuk is a unique and fun way to travel short distances in Bangkok. These three-wheeled, open-air vehicles are a popular choice among tourists. Be prepared to negotiate the fare before starting your journey, as tuk-tuks do not have meters.

Traveling by boat on the Chao Phraya River is an enjoyable way to explore Bangkok while avoiding traffic. Chao Phraya Express Boats serve various piers along the river, with fares ranging from 10 to 32 THB depending on the type of boat and distance.

Visa and Customs

  • Generally, a foreign citizen who wishes to enter the Kingdom of Thailand is required to obtain a visa from a Royal Thai Embassy or a Royal Thai Consulate-General.
